What a rally that '74 East African was.Nairobi car salesman Joginder Singh won it in a Mitsubishi Lancer. It rained like Kenya had never seen and red mud was everywhere; thick and slippery. It took me the better part of of six months to get rid of all the mud in my gear.

OFG, were you there for the 77'78 rallies?? I will be posting a couple of pics when I get digital images made of them on the Technical forum if you are intersted. There is a couple of shots inside Preston Motors as well which is the garage the Factory used when they were there.
Jeff

I have no pics. Sadly they were lost years ago. What was so memorable was that evreyone knew Singh was hot, but he was in a Group 2 car and there were a number of very hot Group 4 cars, many driven by Swedes and Finns Singh not only won Group 2 but won overall followed by a half a dozen Group 4 cars. I think the next Group 2 car was like 7th place or maybe even 8th. Group 4 cars like Peugeot 504's and Datsun Z cars were the anticipated winners and along comes this goofy looking sedan and cleans their clocks.
