AWESOME pics!! Those are some gorgeous cars.
Boy do I miss that area. My father (dearly departed) lived in the Santa Cruz mountains just 3 miles up highway 9 from Boulder Creek for over 23 years. My stepmother still lives in that house. That road was an awesome commute for my dad in his '69 911 for many years. You have just motivated me to plan a road trip from SoCal to NorCal soon.

Wow you guys had a great turn out. It would be awesome to do a North meets South in Central Cali and have a fun run down PCH. We could easily have a mile of cars with all the CA Porsches.

It was a great sunny day and everyone came out to play.
It was a big turnout 20-30 cars. Many different cars joined us as well. VW, Alfas, Triumph, Datsun Roadster, Morgans, Minis and of course Porsches 911's, 356's , 914's |

yes indeed it was a fun day!
many thanks to jay and jon sycip for organizing and planning this event. so well done that if their names are associated with future runs you can plan on mass participation. i'm not sure of the numbers but it was a butload of people with plenty of cars to look at. this was a very nice scenic drive that "officially" started off meeting in the safeway parking lot off sir francis drake drive to a late italian lunch in the small town of occidental. we cruised along hwy 1 through olema, point reyes, to bodega bay. most of the pics are from the stop at portuguese beach which had an incredible view of the ocean. it was great to participate in a "driving event" and break in the new engine. i managed to logue in 198 miles for the day. it was the motivation i needed to set the deadline for the engine swap. it must have been a motivation for others as well judging by all the new "mods". great cars , great people, great fun, great turnout - more drives are being planned.

stay tuned tobluforu, we do "no-gruppe" runs (see "what can you get for a dollar?" thread in OT.) every month or so. you will see them announced here about a week or so in advance. usually no more than 10 cars, not many straits, and never,, and i mean never a parking lot photo op. we meet by the side of a twisty road.

Whew, what a great drive! I hadn't been up 1 in a while. Unfortunately, I had to leave after stopping at the Beach.
Those back roads look great, wish I could have made the entire trip. Looking forward to the next get together, |

cantdrv55,
"I see how it is now" ??? I just do not want this tread to be a tread where we are arguing about how Rgruppe drives are a secret thing. I just posted pics of our fun run. Many people on this tread likes to see pics, so I posted them. Like I said it is nothing secretive, many people who joined us on this drive were not even rgruppe members. Half the cars where not even porsches, it was a big mixed groups of cars. Look at ther rgruppe website occasionally for event postings. The problems sometimes with huge groups are people get separated and lost, this is one reason we did not advertise this drive too much. To our surprise many people found out and showed up for the drive. Our drives are all for fun, meet people, talk porsches. |

Back to the cars, I was happy to see a wide range of autos. The Morgan running the Corvette engine and drive-train was pretty unique...
The others, the Alfa, Datsun, Mini, etc. reminded me how much I wanted to check out the Melee this year! jtkkz, I am not sure I got a chance to meet you. I was in the blue 356, which car were you in? Cheers, Jason |

jbmccandless,
I was driving my '91 C2 Red, decided to take that out for a much needed long drive. Vash, I don't know of any secret handshake, just have fun and drive, meet new people, join us next time. I'll post a few more pics |
