Smile 1999 Boxster w/New Motor & Many Extras

Last of the "downsizing" before I can get a 911...it's time for the Boxster to go. Here are the specifics:

1999 Porsche Boxster
VIN WP0CA2982XU628210
Arctic Silver / Metropol Blue Interior / Black Top
5 Speed
30,250 miles
NEW MOTOR w/WARRANTY

This car is nicely optioned with a few extras I've added since I took ownership in spring of '03. Along with the usual Boxster amenities (ABS, power windows, remote door locks, climate control w/AC, cruise control, ambient temp gauge, telescoping wheel) this car comes with Traction Control, heated seats (power w/leather fronts), front and side air bags, AM/FM/CD player (single in dash), wind deflector, 17" Boxster Design wheels, and chrome exhaust tip. This past fall I added an arctic silver hard top, purchased on eBay.

I've also improved the cars looks with a few cosmetic updates as well, including clear lenses all around, chrome Boxster logo on the decklid, and factory aluminum shifter (standard on newer Boxsters, but an update non-the-less). In Ohio, we're required to run front plates and the bracket that holds that plate made two noticable dimples in the original nose. Rather than "fix" them, I decided to put on an '03 model nose.

Also included in the sale are a painted center console (right now it's Seal Gray, but I have a can of Arctic Silver paint that will come with it) and a rolling cart for the hardtop (w/dust cover).

$25,000 OBO
Douglas Cole
dougc@phoenixpres.com

Car is photographed with winter wheels/tires (NOT INCLUDED IN THE SALE) but the summer wheels/tires are the same size and style. (..just in better condition.)

Not right now. My brother has a Boxster and is considering a new Boxster S. If he gets the S, he'll need 17" winter wheels/tires to clear the brakes. (Right now he only has 16") If he decides not to get the S, I'll put them up for sale. I'll post here first.

Thanks.

Some of the early Boxsters were prone to motor failures. Mine happened to be one of them. My understanding is that the quality of casting was not up to snuff. The problem usually shows up in the first 30-35k miles. Most were fixed under warranty, but I bought my car certified from our Porsche dealership with only 12k miles on it. (I thought this was a good thing) It turns out I didn't put enough miles on it before my warranty expired. Two years later, the motor lets go and I'm out $8500 putting in the new one.

But now it's fixed, so the new owner won't have to worry about that. And the new motor is warranted for two years.

FYI, I've never had any RMS issues or other problems with this car. It's truly a sound car that should give years of pleasure to the next owner.

I just wanted to post that I bought my '88 from Doug a few years back and it was a great transaction. My wife and I flew in from Chicago to buy the car sight unseen (PPI done by Ken Farler) and were a bit nervous about the transaction. Doug was easy to spot in the airport wearing a Porsche hat, a Porsche jacket and reading a copy of Excellence. He even included a Cinci style lunch at Skyline.

Good luck with the sale Doug!

Thanks for the comments Bernie! I look at a potential buyer as a fellow enthusiast, not a big wallet. I would want them to enjoy every part of Porsche ownership...and get them off on the right foot!

And I'll be happy to buy a Skyine lunch to the buyer of this vehicle as well!

cantdrv55 I replied to your PM but your mailbox is full (so says Pelican anyway!). Feel free to drop me a line here at work if it's more convenient (dougc@phoenixpres.com).

Thanks!

The interior looks black, or dark charcoal. Is it a dark blue?

Yes, metropol blue is a dark blue. It's a great color combo with the silver. I'm sorry I don't have a better picture of it. Overall it's in very good condition with a little wrinkling of the driver's seat from getting in and out (on the side bolsters). Not very noticable.

The canvas top is black.
