Interestingly the new S weighs 213kg's fueled up while the new F800S weighs 210 kg's fueled up...so much for the 'lighter' weight of the new twin

Take a look at what MCN claims...
More grunt then a R1 (logical with 1200 cc's) and lighter then a Fireblade? Hugo |

Hugo, I think a 1200cc opposed twin being only 3 k more than a 800cc parallel twin is pretty darn good

Hi Dan,
I meant the F800S with the twin The new R1200S is excellent, but compared with that the F800 is 'heavy'...20 kg's less for that one would have been better...Hugo |

I thought the round button on the left handle bar said ESA but it says ABS. This must be the button to disable abs.

The new 2-channelABS doesn't have an integral function or the brake(force) booster. It has a smaller pressure modulator which has a lineair controlled intake valve with a variable opening area creating small pulses which should be barely noticable in the brake lever.

Hugo thanks for posting the pics.
The black one does it for me. Although I would like to see the corporate colours "weiss-blau" too!

Thank you! That is one beautiful motorcycle. The black is outstanding, really outstanding. I bet it will quickly become a favorite among the BMW faithful. Just not sure how it would be to ride from SC to Colorado and back like I can do in comfort on the R1100S. But why should it be. If BMW wants to make a pure sport bike that is great too. I just like some reasonable touring capability. I can see one of these in my garage some day.

So, the obvious question is : this is the 1st BMW fitted with this system but will it be the last ? Is servo ABS finished ? And if so, why ? 'Progress' or 'Problems' ? God I would HATE it if HaltenCock was right

Grunt than an R1? Funny. Choices are:
a) They have never ridden an R1 or b) Grunt means between 2000 and 3000 rpm or c) Typical new bike hype I'm keeping my R1100S and my R1.

Looks like a Ghezzi-Brian Guzzi from a couple of years ago. Can't say I'm a fan. I like my current S for touring, the sporting side of me has a deposit down on a Daytona 675.

Nice looking bike in black. The big ? - How much will it cost. For 17 large, I can think of a lot of other bike's I'd buy before this one. If they could sell it for 12-14 that would be much more interesting, but I doubt it will come in under 17. Too bad.
