Well, that's just not something you see every day...

Gotta admit, probably does not oversteer.

Vehicle Description

This is a front engined V-8 Porsche. The chassis is from a 1967 912. I purchased from an estate. The car was never finished and the owner had passed, so I have little information. He had previously built a mid-engined Porsche powered by a Corvair engine. (Anyone ever seen that car??).The engine in this car is a Chev. 327, radiator is from a Gurney Eagle. The third member is an Oldsmobile Toronado fwd, (now rwd !), and a spare goes with car. There is no glass in car, most of interior parts seem to be there, and there appear to be a number of duplicate/triplicates. I would guess seats are from a 914. The owner's daughter said her father did drive the car once, in its present state. It has not been turned over for more than 15 years from what I can determine. There's lots of work to be done, and way over my head. He was apparently a good engineer and has routed the exhaust through the lower rocker panels, and exits at rear through a standard Porsche "can" exhaust muffler. The three instruments in place are the clock, speedometer and fuel/temp gauge, the tachometer and combination gauge are missing. The flares are very tastefully done, and are steel, not fibreglass. He was going to market these. In spite of poor color retention on photographs, the paint is fire engine red, but needs polishing out. It's very well painted. If nothing else, break for parts...
"He was apparently a good engineer .. . "

Yeah, he got rid of all that bad engineering.

Well, the work that was done looks like it was done well, but the question is why! I've seen SBC VW Bug conversions with the engine in the front and the back. Assuming the car was finished and ran, I'm betting it'd be really, really hot inside. If you have to do a SBC conversion to a 911 at least leave the engine in the back.

Is it me, or do the headers appear to be going thru the firewall into the passenger compartment? And where is the brake MC? What, no brakes? Hmmmm....must be because this thing will not move under its own power....

Forget for a second that this is an answer to a question nobody ever asked.....

It's actually an interesting bit of solutions. Read the description, the headers run back, then down and run in the rockers, where the old car sent engine heat to the cabin. Kinda ingenious, that, as the new heater will actually fuction with a water/air core.

An Olds Toronado rear end..intereating.

Would I buy it? No, of course not. Would I like to look it over closely? You bet...I like innovation, even if it's misguided, LOL.

Besides that, where's the front structural support? No front frame rails / bracing...\

Instant amputation anyone?

Well, I think it is really neat. Think about it for a minute. This guy is being criticized for creating a front-engine, rear-wheel drive car. I seem to recall that drive configuration being used a time or two. And we all admire the guy that originally put a very heavy "light alloy" engine out behind the rear wheels. Hmmmm...

Then again, I like really wierd s#$t.

Looks like he put quite a bit of work into it. Pretty silly to critisize a dead person for his love of cars. why dont all you high and mighty people go on a crusade to save each and every last neglected and molested porsche in the world from the monster enthusiasts. Im tempeted to throw a 350 into mine just to tweek a few of you.

So many questions...

Could you still have the 911 motor in the rear? That way you could have a back-up in cast one broke down?

I don't get it, is it front wheel drive like a Toronado? How can you mount a transaxle in the rear away from the engine for RWD?
