The RarlyL8 930 air-cleaner intake install
Not much to it, drill 2 holes and slap it on. Saved enough money to take the family out to dinner and a movie.

Glad it worked for you.
The best part of all is that you have less than $20 in the deal. If you don't like it you toss it! There are sooooooo few things you can fab up that actually perform better than the expensive aftermarket stuff.

No, air goes thru the CIS air meter then thru a tube to the turbo, then thru the intercooler, thru the throttle body and into the intake.

rarely has posted often when the air filter wars arise. Rather than spend hundreds on the aftermarket air filters for the 930s, he grabbed a small round hotrod type air filter assembly for a dual quad type set up and drilled holes through the top to mount atop the air metering plate. Great idea and hundreds less than the billet Eagle Day filter I bought that looks almost identical.
Sometimes you just have to think outside the box. JP

That is what happens when a man of modest means owns a 911...........

The fitting on top is for the gas tank vent line, I dont like the fumes in the cabin anymore.

Would someone post the exact product used its dimensions etc...
Also the vent line on top is for a gas??? How about the other vent lines.. those that go to the IC and oil breather system? Does this create any issues realtive to flow? By lookin at the factory air box there is the severe narrowing down of flow b4 it enters the meter plate. no issues? RarlyL8 I emailed you last week hoping to get the specifics as you had respoded in another thread about this.... Thanks for the info..

Any 5/12 or 6" round air filter should work, I purchased a Mr. Gasket air-cleaner at the local Flap so I didn't have to make a top for it. The filters bottom sits directly on the intake.

I was looking at that one also, but didn't know how it would fit, apparently it does. I think that one would set you back 30 bucks!

What is the total surface area of the hot rod filter vs the oem filter ? Better be slightly larger, eh?

This is another one of the RARLY8 family. It works great, sounds awesome and I have all the access I need; more power? may be not, but don't care.
:) :) :)
