F/S 1988 M491 Carrera

Yes, this a real M491 Wide Body Carrera Sunroof Coupe as Produced in the factory, but not just any M491. This car is a spoiler delete from the factory, one of three in the U.S. from what we can tell. I am the second owner. I bought the car almost two years ago from the original owner who had seen the car come off the line in Germany and then picked it up in L.A. when he got home. The car has lived in Orange County ever since.

Since I got the car, it has had a bare metal repaint, obviously in the original guards red. Car was completely taken apart, painted, and reassembled. All new rubber on the assembly. No, it was not cheap. The paint and rubber including the new headliner and recover of the front seats cost a bit over $11,000.

Car has 146,000 on chassis. Motor has a bit less than 40,000 miles on it. P.O. hit something on the freeway, broke the case, and the dealer ordered a new case and built a new motor. I have the receipts for this as well as receipts for the car for it's entire life as he kept them.

The car was only driven home from the shop, no chips, scratches, nothing but a perfect exterior. Motor was serviced by Black Forest when it first came to San Diego, and was serviced again when it came out of the Paint shop. Air conditioning works better than any 88 or 89 I have seen, don't know why.

Car has new shocks, lowered, aligned, and looks great. Has the original wheels which I sent to Reed and had polished, has New Khumos on. All instruments work perfect, heaters work well, has the original Blau. radio still in it.

This is a spectacular rare 88' Porsche that I am sadly parting with. I have no pictures to post, if you have been looking for a M491, you know what they look like. Imagine a car that looks as if it just got to the showroom in 88'.

WEll, over 600 viewers and no buyers. That is very interesting, lots of lookers.

The paint detail person did the car on Saturday. This car is perfect. For anyone who really wants a M491, this spoiler delete is a very nice looking car. CAr is perfect mechanically, perfect exterior, fantastic interior.

This is really nothing more than a bump. Posting has had over a thousand hits, one caller and one message. It appears there are not that many buyers for a perfect M491.

I would have suspected that there were a few Porsche guys out there looking for a really rare pre-1990 car, especially with the Parade coming to San Diego next year. This car is with out a doubt Concours material.

P.S. I also am selling my 74 Euro CArrera. Black Carrera with a 2.7 Euro CArrera motor with 40,000 on it, new torsion bars, spring plates, wheels, tires, etc. This is a 2400lb beautifiul car that needs a new home.

For all of you who have read this far, another opportunity. Not only am I selling the above described M491 car, as well as my &4 Euro CArrera, a black on black car that is quite nice, but I also alm selling my 69' 2.0 Litre HSR race car. This car is as nice as my street cars. Only 50 hours on the car and motor, in perfect condition. See a picture of it in the San Diego Region Windblown Witness in the classified section.

This car was very successful at Fontana, Willow, Palm Springs and many other venues. It is in a ready to race condition, needs nothing. This will be quite a buy at $35,000. If you have an interest, give me a call.

But the real deal is the 88M491 which is very rare and after this weekend will be in a Concours ready condition, top to bottom, front to rear. To see this car is to want it.

Hellow to the Porsche buyers World Wide. As you can see, this m491 is for sale in San Deigo. It has had over 3000 hits on the site, but not a phone call as of yet.

For those of you who are looking for a beautiful car that is as rare as they come, you should take a look at this car or have a friend take a look at the car. It is one of three Spoiler Delete's in the United States and appears to be one of three in the world. yes, a very rare car indeed. The original buyer is still alive, lives in orange County, and will be happy to tell you about his ordering the car, seeing it in Germany, and the next 18 years he owned it until i bought it from him.
