This is a long-term problem on my E39 seat, however it probably also applies to the E36 and E30.
My car has suffered several broken seat cover assemblies, specifically the driver side. The large plastic cover has barbs that break, then cover can move around and then the electrical connections become, well, disconnected. Seat is now inop. Since the cover assemblies are now scarce, has anyone devised a mod/repair for this?

I wonder if you could hot glue on one of those barbed buttons for holding on door panels.

HI Wayne or anyone out there that might help with this situation. I would like to repair my driver and passenger seats on my '93 325is and do not know whre to start. Basically, on both seats there are big holes in the leather seating and I was thinking of reupholstering them with leather fabric but am not sure if that is a wise choice, or should I try to purchase new seats from a junk yard or on ebay. I would like to go with the cheapest option out there. If anyone has any input on this I would appreciate your responses. Thanks in advance.

I recently purchased a set of seat covers from eBay for ~$200. The seat covers are custom fit to your car and slide over the originals. I am very pleased with the fit and finish of the covers. The link is here:
