Passed emissions (humorus story)
I just upgraded my turbo. It has been down for several months. I was really concerned about passing emissions. It would not pass before. I do not have a CAT on this car at all.
Anyway, the first step is the visual inspection. The first tech was using a mirror to look under the drivers door area. His supervisor asked him where he thought the motor was in this car. He replied "in the back". Then the supervisor suggested he try looking there for the CAT and not under the driver. Still no luck. He calls his supervisor over for help. They both look under every inch of the car with their mirrors for a few minutes. Finally they give up and just pass me (for the visual). Luckily, I passed the probe test as well. I guess I'm OK as long as they keep hiring people that know nothing about their job.

No lift this is drive in drive out. They don't care about brakes and steering. They have to leave something for Darwin.

In Illinois, when the IEPA used to require a rear wheel running simulation test (rollers), we used to just tell the goofs the car was all wheel drive; which they could not accommodate. Worked every time.

After growing up in NY I found it pretty hard to believe that there is no safety inspection in CA (or NV where I live now).
