Composite Sunroof Update! (924/944)
It's taken me a while, but as promised the mold for the sunroof skin for early model 924/944 Porsches is finished. Next comes the mold for the framework on the underside. This will take a few weeks for me to do. The frame will allow customers to reinstall their upholstery and latches using all OEM parts from their old sunroof. The skin mold looks awesome and I'll be pulling a part from it at the beginning of this coming week.
Also....... New molds on the way for: 1. Headlight covers (replaces sheetmetal covers) 2. Fuel filler hose cover inside vehicle (replaces plastic cover) 3. Rear hatch w/ option of spoiler (this will be developed later on) For all those interested, send me an email as I have already begun building a customer list for those who would like composite parts. As far as news on a composite hood, it will be a while before I can get to making a mold for one. The hood I have isn't ready to become a plug for a mold. It's going to take some time. I'm not expecting to have it ready until maybe the begining of next year. Afterall, it's not cheap to make good lasting molds.

Also as mentioned in my original post, I will be making the mold for the fuel filler cover. The part, which will replace the old plastic one, is mainly intended for those who are racing. However, it is not limited to such an application. The inside that faces the fuel filler tube and other tubes will be coated with tank sealer which we apply to the fuel tanks in our airplane wings before we close them out. This will keep the composite piece from soaking up fuel, oils, and road grime that builds up in there.

Please put me on your email list.
IF I buy a newer 944 and... IF I decide to keep my 84' and make it a track car, I will want to lighten it up as much as possible. Yeah I'm in dreamland thinking I can afford upkeep on two 944's It could happen... right after I teach these pigs to fly... up piggy up!

A brief note for those of you interested in these parts. As you email me to be added to the customer list I am silently adding you to the list. However, it is a good idea as scottmandue has done, to also post on the boards as a back up. Thank you to everyone who has been showing interest in the products.

Lately I've been under the gun at work with a new prototype airplane that I'm helping to develop. It's been taking up all of my time and have not been able to start on the other parts yet. However, by mid September, things should be back to normal and I should be able to bang out the new molds for the parts that many of you are already requesting. Thanks to everyone for thier interest. The list is building.

Well, it's been a long time coming. However, the good news.......
All composite sunroof tooling is now complete. I now have a prototype fiberglass and a carbon sunroof for demo. Pics will be posted shortly. The carbon headlight cover demos are complete with the clear coat option. Took pics of those today and will post within the week. Filler hose cover for early model 924s (round shaped, not square) has been done for some time now. As of today, I am prepping the surface of the carbon sunroof for demo purposes. Currently getting pricing together for all items and will announce when ready to advertise. I do have one question however. Is there anyone out there who would like to see any other 924/944 parts made out of composites. I.E.: washer bottles, relay box cover, etc.? Just looking for ideas. ALL input is welcome.

Euro style front bumpers? maybe with some lights that are more easily sourced here in the states. I know it would get rid of any front protection that you would have but that could be easily solved with a piece of aluminum. Hell if you did solid mounts like the real Euro ones have the front end would get crushed anyways.

Could you use your sunroof mould to fabricate a polycarbonate (or some other transparent/semi-transparent material) panel? If so, looking at the prices the old Saratoga tops are going for, I suspect you could clean up.

Honestly, what gains are to be had here? A pound or two at what cost? There are better areas to concentrate on if you are trying to cut weight. Unless you are going for the "bling bling" look of CF, in that case go for it. To each his own. FYI, my 85.5 N/A is down to just under 2500lbs. And that is without the use of CF. I guess I could see the use for the CF sunroof and headlight covers if you have already deleted all of the other non-essentials. Best of luck in your project.

I can tell you that the new sunroof weighs in @ 5 lbs or less. The setup allows you to still use your stock interior. Right now its will only be available for non-electric version.
The majority of market that I am going for is the racers. However, it is not limited to such.

write me down for a hood when they become readily avail.
carbon spoiler would be awesome, i agree, a bumper to fit aftermarket driving lights rather then the standard oem would be nice IMO
