Slippery Slope party (engine drop)

Well..I've decided rather than look at oil spots on the floor and seeing puffs of smoke out of the pipes, its time to drop the motor for inspection/reseal...

Anybody interested in joining in, Saturday morning at my place... A/C will be running in the garage .

Cheers!

It's a long drive and all but I just may show up. Still haven't seen how to drop a german engine. Who 'drops' engines.

Well Tom, I thought of saying pulling but it does drop downwards....Might be some tugging, prying, unbolting, and forsure a busted knuckle or two....either way its coming out.

Nothing, and I mean nothing will be as bad as that top muffler bolt. And I have worked on a few bolts in my lifetime. Want me to bring over 101 projects book?

I do agree that the top bolt on the collector was a PITA! It was much easier with the bumper removed..but that took some time to get off also... I doubt i'll need the 101 projects book for the drop but if you bring it I wouldn't mind checking it out....

I plan to start pretty early tomorrow morning with disconnecting all the assorted cables, shift linkages and hope to have the engine out in a couple of hours....unless something strange happens it should be out by lunchtime.

Stop by if you can.
