Audi A8 trunk latch broken

I came home from grocery shopping, shut (not slam) the trunk lid and it didn't lock!
Sprayed the moving parts & Key assembly for trunk with PB Blaster...NOTHING!!

Key Fob operates the mechanism. Then I took the trunk carpet off the lid for a better look/see...NOTHING.

I manually locked the trunk latch and unlocked it with the Key Fob.

Everything is solid and attached. I didn't want to start to replace all the parts one at a time. Are there are adjustments I am missing?

What year is your Audi? I have an 06 A4 and had a similar problem. I also noticed that one of my tail lights was not working ( and I checked the bulb, which wasn't the problem). The problem was a broken wire in the loom next to the hinge. Earlier in my ownership, there was a recall on the rear latch. Just a couple of thing to look into.
