Audi A4 VSS not working

Hi Wayne,

You have been helpful in the past with my 328i but for some reason I just bought a 96 A4 2.8 Audi for my son. As usual, one persons problems become someone elses upon transfer.

Here is the issue: The speedometer and odometer were not working, I hooked up the OBD and coded the VSS as a fault. This is mounted in the tranny and I believe controls all the non working components. I removed the old one and noticed a severely corroded contact. I purchased a new one from the dealer and installed. It still didn't work. I'm thinking the corrosion extends to the plug as well. What is the best way to test this. Should I get an ohms reading from this plug? Any help as usual would be wonderful.
