2010 VW CC, Fuel Pump Issue

2010 VW CC, 2.0 TSI engine. Started having running issues yesterday, where it would just die and act like it had no power. Parked it for 6 hours and started it, ran fine for 30 minutes or so. No issues and then all sudden started doing it again. It originally through a CEL p2293, fuel pressure regulator.

From my understanding this is a High Pressure Fuel Pump issue, but since this is a mechanical pump, would it run intermittently? I figured it would either work or not. Any thoughts.
