Volkswagen I.D. R tests at Pikes Peak
It's getting closer and closer! Volkswagen brought Romain Dumas and the I.D. R to Pikes Peak to do a shakedown and to work on its tire and suspension setup. The I.D. R doesn't have any gears to switch, which allows Dumas to just focus on the perfect driving line. This should mean Volkswagen will set a record this year, with Dumas being a veteran at Pikes Peak. Do you think Volkswagen will set a new record at Pikes Peak this year?

Romain Dumas set the quickest time in qualifying yesterday, setting a time of 3:16.083. This time was a whopping 11.049 seconds faster than the second place contender, Simone Faggioli in his Norma M20 SF PKP.
The Volkswagen team and Romain Duams have been hard at work setting the I.D R for Pikes Peak, and their efforts have paid off. After getting data from qualifying, they seem to have found even more room to improve upon. On Sunday, June 24, we'll see if Volkswagen is able to shatter the standing record of 8:57.118 for electric vehicles on the run!
