1999 328is drivetrain noises

I have a '99 328is 2dr/auto, under 80k miles and granny driven its whole life.
Car has a high frequency "clicking" sound at low speeds in fwd and reverse around +/- 5mph, it can be felt in the shifter and heard if radio is off/windows up.
On higher speeds +10mph you can feel it go from a clicking to a fast vibration in the shifter. It almost sounds like a zip tie on the driveshaft. I read the flex disc can fail and the strings inside it can fly everywhere so I am thinking this is what I am hearing.
CV axles are new and sound was present before I swapped them. I haven't taken the driveshaft out yet to verify its the problem, I'm really just looking for some insight as to what else it could be.
Thanks in advance for any educated input on this issue. I will be taking it apart next weekend regardless but knowing what to look for would be awesome!
