Yes, we're hoping to get the parts car ( also free )
It has really nice seats and carpet, as well as door panels. All dark blue instead of tan. The tail light lenses are also much nicer. KT

The painter called me today.
Requested the car early. It's in his hands now. KT

I ordered new side molding clips at the neighboring supply store.

The car is spot primed; paint has been ordered - nearly $500 for primer, color; clearcoat and sealer; and it looks like Monday is the big day to get it done.
This guy is meticulous so I'm expecting it to be beauteous.

Tomorrow afternoon we'll pick it up and Trekkor will put it back together.

After it cures a bit, it will need a color sanding and polish. Also Trekkor has ordered new hood and trunk emblems from Pelican.

This putting back together business is incredibly time consuming.
![]() But I did get to be Trekkor's lovely assistant, washing parts and holding a back seat window in place while he assembled. I think we're about half done.

Front lights and grills, rear lights, rear trims, keyed door locks and left rear window are installed.
Tomorrow afternoon I will install the bumpers, hood emblems, right rear window, interior door panels, handles and window cranks. It's looking great. KT

Whew! That was a lot of work. But doesn't she look great?
The interior, of course needs work. Also, Trekkor has picked up a set of 14 X 6 wheels from a BMW 325 (bottle cap style). When he has time he'll see if they fit. Meanwhile, I'm back on the road. She also needs a name. Any suggestions? Thyra (Mrs Trek )

We enjoyed a nice drive through the Napa/Sonoma country this evening.
It's a smooth ride and it will only get better when we lower it and add wider tires. Everyone that sees it, likes it. KT

Looks like the 14" wheels won't work without modifications. And considering what we're putting together here, we'll probably just stick with the 13's. There are not as many tire options, but we don't need a whole lot of opts for just a street car.
Personally, I'd rather put my nickle into new front seat upholstery. ![]() I haven't yet decided on a name, but this girl's still morphing, so it's still too early to know what will fit.

You two must be great friends to have to lend a car that you have put so much work into to friends. That's really nice of you.
My second car was an '82 320i, and it was the first car that I drove from Berkeley to Atlanta. With no a/c, it was quite an adventure, but I will always remember how the car ushered me from the west coast to the deep south without a hiccup... Well, except for an unpredictable starter that kept me popping the clutch every time I stopped for gas! ![]() Your car looks great. I can't wait to see it when you put the springs and wheels on it. Keep us posted! |

Glad you put it together. We have to keep a few of the good oldies around. I just finished the exterior of my 88 325ic. I did the interior leather a few years ago. Too many people give up.
A lot more details here BMW ![]() I had postponed it a year as I was busy with my Corvair restoration. ![]()
