				 | BMW thermostat replacement
I have a 2000 328i. I have one question regarding the thermostat replacement that I can't seem to find a definite answer for in the book or technical articles. Are there rubber and/or plastic gaskets for the top and bottom hoses that connect to the thermostat housing? When I took my hoses off, the top hose had a rubber and plastic gasket but the bottom hose had nothing. I'm wondering if the person working on the car before me accidentally put those in there? Anyone out there found a similar situation on their thermostat replacement?

I'm not sure about a 2000 328 but my 1998 328i is the same. The bottom hose has no gasket, I think, because the thermostat O-ring also engages the thermostat housing creating a seal- therefore not needing another gasket. Anyway I haven't had any leaks because of it?
