I followed this guide thank you! as an attempt to fix poor shifting. I was able to replace all of the bushings, except for the shift coupler I could not figure out how to even find the pin by feel.
My vehicle '98 328iS is still not shifting well from a stop. Often, I have to shift into 2nd sometimes 3rd, to 2nd.. before shifting into 1st from a stop. Could this be a result of a worn shift coupler or would that seem to indicate something else? __________________ This post was auto-generated based upon a question asked on our tech article page here: BMW E36 3-Series Shift Bushings Replacement (1992 - 1999) | Pelican Parts DIY Maintenance Article |

Sounds like worn synchros to me. If the shift lever isn't loose, it may be an internal issue.
