Diecast models - in general - are extremely poor investments these days. Before eBay, it was a different story. I was into the 'investment' end of the hobby for 3-4 years. Bought mostly rare promo diecasts, stuff only available in Europe, etc, etc. 5 years ago, if you did a search on eBay for "minichamps" models, you might get 20-30 items to come up. Today? Just checked - there's over 1700. But back then it was a seller's market. If you knew where to get the models, there were people lined up to buy them. I used to buy 1:43 diecasts from a shop in Germany (they would always get stuff 6 months before the US) for around $25US and sell them on eBay to US collectors for anywhere between $150 and $300. Now anyone could have ordered from the same shop, but ordering on the internet (and especially from all the way over the pond and in a foreign language!!) was considered risky by most. I was involved in bidding wars myself on single 1:43 diecasts for $2000 or more!! The Japanese would pay ungodly sums of money. Today? It's completely different. Everybody knows how to search and find deals and sellers far outweigh buyers. These days, I buy strictly for enjoyment and assume that if I had to sell, I might get 20 cents on the dollar. -- Curt
