I had a mystery fluid when i bought my car, switched to Redline and it mostly cured (not completley) my 2nd gear grind due to a worn synchro.
Some people swear by Swepco, you may consider them. In the event i ever decide to change my tranny fluid again i will try that. I ended up getting the Redline because it was available locally and had heard of sucesses with relieving the symptoms of worn synchros. It did it for the most part, however id like to see if Swepco is any better.
Good call changing the fluid while you have the tranny out of the car. Its a pain in the butt to refill it with it still in. It took some coaxing (and alot of time) using my nitro r/c fuel bottle. Which has a long aluminum neck that i managed to squeeze into the space upside down. Just the oil is thick as hell and takes forever to squeeze out!
