Here's how to fix the problem:
1. Arrest and deport anyone here illegally
2. No more "anchor babies" - in order to have citizenship your parents must BOTH be U.S. citizens.
3. Fine the ***** out of any business caught employing them or helping to doctor records.
4. Build the wall
5. Put more patrols, including military - on the border.
And when I say "arrest and deport", I mean arrest, detain and give them the choice of helping to build the wall while they're awaiting deportation. Their choice - either help build the wall or sit in a jail cell. If they work, they get better accommodations, possibly training in a skill, etc. Something of value versus just sitting around doing nothing.
For the ones that happen to be from Mexico (and not all illegals are), don't just bus them back to a border checkpoint where they'll just turn right around and march north again, I suggest shipping them to Mexico's SOUTHERN border (the one with Guatemala and Belize) and dropping them off THERE. It's a lot longer of a walk from there to the U.S. border again.
Draconian? Hardly. Nobody is suggesting slave-labor or harsh conditions - I'd want everyone treated civilly and in accordance with applicable laws. However, if we're going to stem the tide of this problem, we need to confront it head-on with aggressive and tough policy, not mamby-pamby political pseudo-solutions and dancing around the problem.
Illegal immigration is a PROBLEM. The people here in the U.S. today illegally are a PROBLEM. They're not "misunderstood" or "undocumented" or "future citizens", they're a PROBLEM. The billions of dollars this costs us is a PROBLEM. And problems need solutions, not burying our heads in the sand and pretending they don't exist.
