Gas Leak

When I took my 944 out of winter hibernation last spring, the first few times I drove it, I'd come out the next morning and the garage would absolutely reek of gas. I checked underneath, but found no visable leaks. As the weather got warmer, the problem went away. Well, last September, when I parked it for the winter, the leaking started again. This time I caught it actually dripping onto the garage floor. Above the fuel filter, as I feel along the tank ridge, is a layer of foam or rubber insulation (not sure which). When I squeeze this with my fingers, fresh gas leaks onto my hand. Is this a likely place for a tank leak? The lines look ok, haven't had it on a hoist yet though. Any advice welcome.
