Potential Oil Leak From Lower Valve Cover

Hi

Just wanting to check my thinking before I send the car for a repair or do it myself.

I have a couple of oil leaks on my 1985 930 (44000km), the time chain is leaking but this isn't my biggest issue.

Ive checked the top of the engine which is dry but I think I also have a leak from the passenger side lower valve cover, is the possible on a 930.

I've tried to add some pictures to help (sorry I was laid on a floor in a carpark space at my apartment).

Any suggestions welcome.

My timing chain cover leaks on both sides and the value cover on the other side is clean. Plus with the positioning of the chain cover and the valve cover I would have though oil would not blow from the chain cover onto the valve cover.

I the first picture with the black hose/pipe, the top part of the hose is dry, seems to get spray on it.

Well from what I can see from your somewhat out of focus pictures, I would say your valve cover shown is NOT leaking, the underside of the cam chain housing appears dry as well.
I'm thinking you are leaking from the cam tower housing where it mates with the heads.
Or it is coming from the backside of the cam chain housing, were it bolts to the cam tower housing.
Better pictures would help.

Lastly, you own a 44000km 930 and live in an apartment? with no garage??....hope it doesn't get stolen! That sucker wouldn't last 10 minutes in America.

Mark

you need to degrease the engine.
then drive it and look for fresh oil.
oil can blow around under the car.
there are way too many places it can leak from above.

cam tower oil lines
the connection on the cam towers where the oil lines attach
chain box to cam tower
rocker shaft
chain box covers
chain tensioner seals.
plus more

I have had the first 3.
they even looked like valve cover leaks.
