Wheel Corrosion in Hawaii

Aloha, I am relatively new to posting here but have been lurking/learning for years. I need to ask the folks that live on Oahu where I should take my wheels to be refinished. The outer lips have corrosion.

Fuchs. I’ll attempt to post a pic. My car is the dark blue 87 930 that you posted here for a friend in 3012. LOL, small world.

I’d be tackle the grooved brake rotor before those rims. Do you have a pulsating brake pedal on stops?
Sorry I can’t help you on where in Hawaii to get those done. Perhaps you can check with the Porsche dealership and see where they send bent or scuffed rims. They probably have vetted the local shops by now.

^^^ Yea, That rotor is crazy looking. Looks like something went metal to metal and then new pads without machining.

Yeah . The brakes are being dealt with once the wheels are off. Unfortunately I haven’t driven it much in the last 7 years. I had a feeling I’d get some posts about those rotors

What is happening is it looks like there is a failure of the anodizing. Or was the car parked by a water sprinkler? A temporary fix is what Porsche recommends for care of Fuchs. Wipe Vaseliine on the anodized part and leave the car in the hot sun. The Vaseline will be absorbed into the anodized coating and you just wipe it dry with a cloth. The anodized coating should look much better.

Other than that, I do not know of anyone here that does the coating. It is best to send it to the mainland for a recoat/refinish by Harvey Weidman or Al Reed.
