Would you do it?
I own this pretty nice 81 SC with a 930 engine and some RUF parts. I would never try to represent this car as a RUF but ......there is this hand painted turbo script on the rear lid which I have never liked and have threatened to sand off for years. Rey sold me a RUF emblem and I already had a turbo emblem. It may be time to remove this thing and move on. What do you think?
I took a couple of pictures: http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1588363441.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1588363500.jpg |

You gave me an excuse to post a pic of my fake BTR. Ruf emblems front and back. |
I love your modded car, and agree the turbo script has to go, it’s terrible. Just use the normal turbo badge in its place, that’s my vote, leave the RUF badging off.

If it has a turbo- it is technically a turbo- right ? [emoji2957]

SC turbo
or turbo SC Rahl |
Turbo 👍

What is it? Based on your description it is an "SC Turbo".
Whatever you do PLEASE get rid of that sticker...:( |
I echo the rest. That funky script is bringing your car down!!!
I vote Turbo. But Miguel's idea is cool too. SC badge plus Turbo would be pretty neat. |
I agree I need to remove the script and replace it with the "turbo" emblem. Maybe the RUF emblem is too much? I don't think I want the SC emblem. The hard part will be in the removal. Sanding thru the clear coat and the script without harming the color, then respray with clear.

use only one badge.

A solution for a 1979 turbo'd carrera.

I was lucky.... the clear coat was under the painted script. Wet sanded 500, 1000, 2500 and compound. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1588437815.jpg |
Nice job! Looks way better.

sans badge, let the car do the talking.

Glad you got that old lettering off OK. FYI Hand painted lettering & pin stripping is typically created using 1 Shot sign painters enamel, EZ off oven cleaner works very good for removing it, assuming it is on top of the clean coat.
