Anyone Recognize this Turbo Rocker Trim?
Evaluating this car for a potential purchase. It is not local to me and the current owner did not install the mod, so does not know/can't tell.
Does anyone know who manufactured this rocker panel mod, or know anything about how it is installed? There is an air duct in the rockers to provide cooling air to the rear brakes. The main thing I am trying to determine is if this duct utilizes the existing access holes for the torsion bars, or if someone had to cut into the body panel/flare to fit the duct? Current owner said it looks like there is a bit of undercoat spray in the area and can't really tell. These are the best pictures I have to show the duct. Well that wasn't that hard. Not Strosek, but same ducting. Unfortunately, it requires enlarging the torsion bar access:mad::mad::mad:

Yes, but my concern if you watch the install video, is that they have to use about 40 to 50 screws driven into the body to affix the new trim during the bonding process.
That translates to about 100 holes in the car that would have to be welded up, prepped and painted to return to original condition. On top of that, if they did enlarge the holes, you would need to cut new ones out of a donor car and weld into place. Could be very involved and expensive. |

Agree with most comments, but show me standard, white, repainted, 85000 mile gray market cars that don’t have rebuilt engine/trans, that are bringing $100k or anywhere close on a regular basis.
We all love these cars, but that doesn’t make them more valuable than they are. Non-US cars historically are less desirable and bring less than their US counterparts. This car is nice, but is just a regular 930 with a trim kit and BBS wheels. It’s priced at the market as if it were all correct with factory trim and Fuchs. I need to factor in costs as discussed, plus put a price on down-time, dealing with a body shop, etc. Appreciate the comments. |

I had a set of those side panels installed on the Red Rocket as part of the body kit. This was great in 1995 when I did it but sure wouldn't do it now. The panels come with no attachment mechanism at all so there are many ways to do it. The body man that fit them for me used standard body shop panel clips that snap on and off. It is essential that these panels be easy to remove because you cannot access the torsion bars with them in place. The worst part, which still makes me shutter, is that instead of trimming back the panel vents the body man cut a big chunk out of the fender so the duct would be functional. I didn't need it to be functional and was horrified when I saw that. Hopefully whoever installed the kit on the car in question didn't do that.
