over boost / fuel pumps

Still sorting out my newly rebuilt 76 3.0l row turbo motor pretty much stock slight upgrades long neck period inter cooler cams and a raptor k27 from evergreen turbo and the typical case mods .....just looking for a reliable driver. The motor is in an 1980sc widebody car . That was modified to accept the turbo motor back in the 90s ... When i was going through the car i noticed that it only had 1 rear fuel pump and that wire looked to have been slightly over heated over the years . There was also provisions for a front fuel pump but the pump was missing . so i installed twin bosch o44 . The rear fuel pump is feed from the rear fuse box and the front is feed from the front fuse box. They currently both go on and off through the ignition. the pumps do not shut down when i test the over boost, so where to start .im not opposed to starting from scratch with all new new wires and external relays. first time time turbo long time non turbo 911 and 356 guy

TIA
Regards Ned

I do not have wiring diagram for the 76, but on the later cars pretty sure both pumps are fused only up front, possibly check if only your front pump is turning off with over boost condition.

Yes fuses both normally up front, as are relays. One per pump (fuse/relay).
The o/boost sw is part of a daisy chain that completes an earth circuit that energises the pump relays. Your car has been wired outside of these parameters. Somewhere your pumps (relays) are getting independant earths from the daisy chain they should be connected to.

On my 1982 each fuel pump has a separate relay but both relays are powered by one fuse in the front panel. There are a few good Pelican threads on how having this one fuse overtaxes the wiring.

I'm in Rocky hill just east of Hartford that would be great to have someone local to bounce things off .. ... The wiring has taken a back seat, i just pulled the motor yesterday, bigger problems .. to make a long story short something is off with cylinder #1.oh well I guess that's what winter is for.

Regards Ned
