Has anyone use the original rear Fuch wheel for the fronts?
 

Hi Everyone, I have an 89 930 with Fikse FFR, 9/17 & 11/17, with 245/40/17 & 315/35/17 Michelin a/s pilot 4.
I did some research before purchasing the tires. From my research it was suppose to work fine…

For some odd reasons both front tires are cutting up on the upper corner walls, the scrapping is grooving into an L shape inward, some area I can see the white linen of the tires.

I’m thinking of dropping it down to 225/45/17 to narrowing it to .70 of an inch to compensate for the 1/2 groove. Or I wanted to try and used the original Fuch rear with 235/40/16, giving it a 16/17 Set up. Wondering, has anyone try this set up? Let me know your thoughts as well? Yes the OE 9x16 ET55 Fuchs will fit in the front on a 930. Could be your 17" wheels have a different offset?
I moved my 9x16's to the front and put 17's on the rear.

Nice set up!!! I think my OE 15mm offset, not ET55, but I’ll give it test fit. My Fikse were the recommended offset from Fikse, so I don’t know what happen there… I even verify with Fikse, if it was ok to run 245/40/17,

I'm sorry it is ET15. Should have proof read before posting.
If your 17" wheels are 9x17 ET15 they should fit the same as the OE 16's. I mounted a set of Euromiester 9x17 ET15 on front and they fit the same. Tires were 245mm on both sets of wheels. I just liked the look of the 16's better as they have a little more sidewall which matches the back closer than the 17's.

Hey Brian, which 17" wheels are you using on the rear? And they're 9x17"?

On your OE ET15 Fuch 9/16 set on the fronts, what your tires size? I did a test fit on 9/16. It works, but stick out a bit much on fender. My tires now are 245/45/16,

Front tire size is 245/45-16
All 930 flares are the same as far as I know. I've used this combo on a few 930's and it fit them all.

Rears are custom 3-piece, 12.75x17.
You can see in this picture how the fronts fit as well.

Thanks Brian. And to confirm on the rears, those have an ET15? Do you mind if I ask who you had make those? And what tire are you using on the rears? That stance looks fantastic.

I've never done the math to calculate the ET on the rears. The actual measurement outside bead to outside bead is 13.25". The wheels were purchased from a fellow Pelican member who had them on a DP935. The offset was incorrect for a 930. I took them apart and had a spacer made that pushed the wheel inboard while also taking up all the available space. The tire size chosen was 315/35-17 as the sidewall stretch was flush on a wheel of this width. It matched the aspect look of the front while filling up the well.

I looked for pictures of the OE 9x16 Fuchs on other 930's I've had but didn't find any that showed a good angle of the fender so you could see how they fit. Others have done this, maybe they will chime in with pictures.

I used t run a similar setup as Brian. I moved my 16”x9”s to the front and ran 17”x11”s in the back
No clearance issues with 9”s

Consider adding a little camber to the rears or milling the spacers. I'm sure you're aware tire widths also vary btw manufacturers. You're one really bad luck hit from having the tire grabbing the fender lip pulling and bending it down.

I think with that amount of tire rub, it is going to be hard to solve with only negative camber or a narrower tire.

Are they Fikse 3 piece wheels?

If so, Fikse offset is typically done by measurements of inner and outer barrels. You may need wider inner barrels and narrower outer barrels.

As an example, say your 11" rear has 5" outers and 6" inners, just replacing the 5" outer with a 4-1/2" outer will probably solve your problem but then you only have a 10.5 rear. If brian is using a 12.75", there is plenty of room for wider.

Confirm you didn't leave old spacers or adapters on your Hubs before mounting new wheels? I had a customer do that before.
Then I would go back to Fikse and have them give you a proper offset for a 930.

There are No spacer in front, but I realize the offset need to be 1”inch inward on the later year(88-89) 930. The offset 500/400 5”/4” for 9/17 wheels on old model and 600/300 6”/3” for 9/17 wheels on 88-89 late model. This is the reason I couldn’t run 245/40/7 tires. Just a reference for someone looking into this set up.
