Replacing Alternator on 86 930

I am replacing the alternator on my 86 930. I've done this many times on a 911, but never a turbo. It appears like the intercooler must come off, correct?. If so, what seals and vacum lines should I have available to replace if needed related to the IC? Any "trick" to get the IC off?

Other than the intercooler, it's the same.

I would have the o-ring at the throttle body and the two at the pipe from the turbo to intercooler. They may be OK when you remove them, but you my damage it when you reinstall it. Good to have new ones and the old ones as back up. Other than those, look at any hoses you may want to replace while you have it off. Pelican carries most of them, incl the small dizzy vac lines.

Also, I use a little silicone spray on the o-rings when I re-assemble to help the intercooler slide on easier.

Good luck!

Thanks A30. I noticed when looking at the IC from the rear of the car, there are two vacum fittings on the right side of the IC. The top one is plugged, (should it be??)and the bottom one goes to the Aux Air Valve??? Well that hose is cracked and is approx $50.00. Can I use any high grade generic vacum hose from the parts store that is the correct size? Anything special
about that hose???

That one should be plugged. The other one can be replaced, but I'm thinking it has a shape/bend to it? Whatever you replace it with (silicaone hose maybe), make sure it holds it's shape.

Yep. It's the AAV.
