I mapped a turbocharged BMW 635 equipped with old Link ECU and it was major PITA to tune. It didn't have RSR232 link or anything, you had to connect a small box and flip trough the map with buttons, kinda like SDS. Is new Link stuff better in this regard?

Link worked, we mapped it in the end but I had sore thumbs from all the flipping :)

The new Links have serial connectivity, and the newest Links have USB connectivity. I tuned my car using my laptop, and it was probably one of the easiest systems Ive tuned. The software they have developed is very intuitive.

You can still get the little box and use that to to though

Motec M48 Pro. Done correctly, a great system.

So much more flexible than a CIS system it hurts. Would do it again in a heartbeat, but experience taught me to choose your tuners well. Not cheap.

Zach, I used SDS on my project (it's manufactured local to me). For my application it certainly works fine and this includes track use. Street drivability is flawless, very comparable to the CIS. I ordered a basic system with few options besides ignition control, though other Pelican's want more advanced features or controls which may be outside the scope of SDS. I appreciated not using a PC for programming because my PC skills are not strong enough to troubleshoot interfacing problems. With the SDS you can program on the fly and the diagnostic mixture knob gives the instant ability to test leaner or richer while driving. It's a really cool tuning tool, instant feedback can be seen on my wideband O2. I'd estimate it took me a total of 5 hours to dial the system in.

I am using the Motec M600 for the price involved in what I have done to my car I could have added a very nice 993tt and kept the 930. Plan on parting with some big money to do it right.

I am using a Microtech on my NA 3.4. They support turbo aps as well though. I went with them because there is a well respected tuner in my area to tune the car for me. Unlike TimT, I have no experience in tunning stand alone EFI myself. But, when I went to the AUTRONIC tuner local to me, he sent me to the Mictotech guys.....

As a side note, anyone stateside who is contemplating EFI should consider a system from Rudtners (timt and GTU935) as Tim has helped me out with a ton of stuff via email and PM. If I had a more local Link or Haltech tuner, I would have bought from Rudtners for sure. He gave me unbelievable "customer service" even though I was not a customer per se.

Just check out their website and look at some of the videos of the cars they have tuned.

Autronic SM-4. Thats what was recommended to me. I had it professionally installed and now I'm learning more about it by reading the maps etc etc. I had a fair amount of knowledge prior to but figured it would be better for me to learn more after a pro installed it the right way first. So far, i'm glad I did.....

although I never got to install it everything you could ever need is in that kit and my mechanic said its one of the best efi kits he has ever seen.

I installed a Haltech E11V2 on 94 3.6 T
MSD ignition, 55lb injectors , pat williams rails ,Garett custom turbo ,and Blown six Ic., tial wastgate,
Conversion is now complete. and running going to dyno tuner next week.
