I used ARP head studs and rod bolts in my build. They have been in place for over 5 years with no issues, and I'm not easy on it.

+4 on the ARP. However, being that he handled all of my machine work, I would have bought the Performance Developments (Neil Harvey) headstuds if I had it to do over...just to give him the business, and, well, because Neil's the real deal! I already had my ARP hardware before I found Neil.

It's hard to fathom that there is actually a discussion/debate on whether to use ARP or not. +5 with rod bolts and head studs.....

The Supertec head studs were designed with a far superior concept. They (Supertec) studs are made from a material some stud engineers believe is a superior choice to that of ARP studs. The Supertec stud also used a design that incorporates two different thread pitches. The case end is standard 10X1.5 thread and is slightly longer than stock. This lets you thread the stud completely into the case. More threads equal more strength. The nut end is a fine thread 10x1.25. This allows for a more accurate torque and better control of head tension. All high quality machinery that has a stud installed in aluminum has a fine thread nut installed. Even the Supertec nut has a better design. If you search this board you are going to fine many comments about AR studs coming loose after very little use. ARP studs are cheaper, perhaps there's a reason. Debate? I think so, that's why I chose Supertec head studs for my 400 hp turbo engine.

Thanks for your answers....interesting....
So, what about those ones, compared to the ARP....are they better and is the quality/price ratio correct......?

I put the Supertec Studs in my engine. Debate away apples and oranges,
I cant see any negatives against using them.

Ive used Arp's in everything I have built since the age of 12 and I have never had a problem. Nor have I had a problem with the Supertecs or even the Porsche motor sports/ stock studs. At the point of splitting hairs, these pieces of hardware are only as good as the builder that installs them. I think the extra cost in the Supertecs are not in the material, but the R&D. The Supertec most likely have a better expansion characteristic than the Arps because the ARPs are basically just a very high quality grade 8 bolt/stud. I use the ARPs because it is worth the 3-400$ difference to me to take the chance. If my heads lift, I buy Supertec studs- spend a night in the garage + a case of beer and away I go, my woman will wait for me...
