Hi all - my first thread! The ugly maroon is my 930 (motor is out for rebuild).
![]() ![]() I'm putting 1975 RSR 15" vented quarters on my 930 and I already have 315's on 17"x11" wheels back there. I'm looking at just getting my Kenisis rebarrelled, but what are the options for tires? I will go for nothing less than the Pirelli 335's like I have on my GTR project, but I'd really like something special for this car as its my first 911. So what's a guy to do when he has 15" wide rims? What's the largest tire made or like AVON does, have made for the street. I'm aware that AVON carves rain grooves in its tires for wide applications but I don't have any contact for anyone who does this. Price is a non issue, I want the most incredible stance around....so what's a guy to do? Who do I talk to? ![]() On a side note she's at the body shop getting a total color change to Satin Black, a DP extended rear spoiler, 935 factory style bumper with splitter, 15" wider non vented bumper and we'll have to do something custom for side skirts. I want her mean as all hell

Pirelli still sells the 345/35-15 for ~$400. There are no good options (in my opinion) for the front.
You might consider loosing the 15s and going to 17s or 18s. You can run 335s in both. Pirelli tends to lie on thier widths, they are not as wide as other brands of the same stated size. Track guys will know who sells the widest tires in those sizes.

Well she's not done yet, 'glass parts should start to go on her here in a month or so. She's getting custom hand rolled rear tubs, an integrated cage put in, floor pan cut up a bit for a custom oval side exit exhaust (just below door seam behind driver).
We're going to tube from the shock towers forward and the single piece front clip will be shaped once the cage is done. 40 gallon fuel cell is installed with aluminum rear floor going in soon. Here's on of the last update pics I got from the shop. BTW they do showcar finish type jobs, second pic is a '52 GMC quarter panel after paint. She's getting a 3.1ltr 16 valve turbo motor with output expected to be around 600 rwhp. When all is complete she'll have a Gulf Paint scheme. ![]() ![]() The clip will have a 951 nose grafted on ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Sorry, I misunderstood. I thought maybe you were going after the oldschool RSR wheels.
I did a search some time back for ulta-wide tires. The only thing I found that came close was this 455/25-18 ![]() That is 27" tall x 18" wide on an 18" rim. That would look pretty impressive.

You have to think WAY out of the box on this one. Here is the link:
http://www.jegs.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_10001_10002_758838_-1_36694 EDIT - I don't see the 27" tall version listed any more. If you're interested I would call Jeg's and see if it is still available.

On the phone now...I'll share my findings with the group. Thanks so much!
And trust me, I've never spent a single day "IN" the box.....I'm going to owe you so big if it works out!

Okay here's the scoop....but for some reason the photos don't look that....wide.
![]() ![]() ![]() Tire Specs: Tire Overall Diameter: 29.0'' Tire Tread Width: 15.5'' Tire Section Width: 17.5'' Wheel Diameter: 18'' Spec Wheel Width: 15''-16'' Tire Weight: 47.0 lbs I ordered one in the 29" tall diameter to see how it will fit, talked to the guy at Jegs who was SUPER helpful - and it will fit a 15" wide rim. They stopped making a 27" tall version, so this is the only choice. We'll have to see if I can visually lower the rear so it doesn't look like an off road truck. So if the rubber will fit under the rear end, which according to the actual measurements it will - this is going to be awesome! Its going to be delivered to the shop on friday the 17th and I'll post pics of it next to a 315 and the rear quarter. I'll have the shop take pics (its in California and i'm in Baghdad). Hmmm 455 vs 315 is an extra 140mm of goodness!!! Thanks RarlyL8! EDIT: After searching the forum for a bit I found two photos of a 935 Martini racer before boxed quarters were designed and applied! But which spoiler setup is best looking? First or second? ![]() ![]()

29" will be wayyyyy too tall. It will look quite strange. Why not just use 315 or 335 and push the wheel out with a spacer?

Well the rolling diameter of my front wheels (on the car) are 27.5 and they look fine to me, the car is RoW and is lower than normal, so the bit of a raise up is okay with me. As I'll just have the rear sit down to compensate (hopefully).

I think the 29 is going to be much too tall. Thats getting into pro-street drag tire sizes. Back in the day I ran a 440 Dodge Dart with 29.5 x 14" wide slicks, and on that car, it was ALL tire. Another thing you may want to consider is the loss of low end torque. I can notice a difference in gearing just by going up or down a few mil on the tire. A 315 is around 25.5 or so inches tall, and that is the size that seems to work well on these cars. I wouldnt go over 26" personally, it just not needed IMO
