What kind of gas runs the best in your 930 ?
I've never tried anything but Hi-test ( don't think you can safely run mid grade ... 89 octane )
In Ohio, you can get 93 and 94 octane, but most places are just 92. Shell is probably the best so far ..... Citco isn't bad either. I try to avoid anything with ethanol in it ...... |
BP - 93 Octane
Kwik-Trip - 93 Octane It's all pretty much the same. Just go to places that sell more the the average amount of premium so you're not getting stale crap. |
Bp 93

every once in a while ....105 octane race gas...sweet.

Ok not to hijack this thread, but do you actually get more performance out of higher octane?? I know about the detonation issues,, but is there actually more energy per liter in higher octane??

Just Rebuilt! 100 Octane!
Fellow 930 owners,
I recently had my 3.3 rebuilt top/bottom. I drive the car 2-3 times a month to the "Original" Cars & Coffee at GAP Irvine CA. So, I run 100 octane fuel. From what I read on the early 930 like mine, is the manufacturer sticker states my 930 requires 98 RON. Most people retard the timing slightly in order to run the 91 octane. Paul |

Depends on the region you purchase your petrol. Some states are mandating ethanol belnds (10-15%) in fuels. 15% ethanol in our CIS systems is not harmful. |
101 LL Av gas mix with super Shell. She`s a 1976,K27,with IC,&Zork. We are at 7600 ft.

Preferred street mixture is 2 gals of 110 leaded race fuel (no cat) with fill-up of 93 octane Chevron. On the track, I like to use 100 octane unleaded race fuel. Thoughts?
|
I usually fill with Chevron 92 and one bottle of STP octane boost. The cap says 96RON, which should mean I can use no-additive 91/92... but I don't daily-drive, so when I take it out, I like it to have as required or better.
Chevron does 94, but not at every station in my area. |
I must run a mix of race gas 100% of the time - effectively at least 96-97 octane, even on the street.
It will destroy itself with just 92 octane - now this is for my particular car only....... Track demands full race gas. |
Don't know if Octane ratings are different in the US compared to here in Australia but my Porsche mech told me to use nothing less than 98 octane.
Thats Shell V-Power or BP Ultimate down here in the Antipodes. |
Archie, USA has a different rating to the UK, yours sounds similair to UK IMO.

Yeah Nathan, I think your right, haven't been back to the UK for a few years but the OZ fuel sounds very similar to UK stuff.
Porscott- look forward to the 'Shell V-power racing' when it comes....woohoo! Hopefully will get it up in north QLD. |
