Push the left side back in and then pull the right side out and angle it up while doing so. There will be a hose on the back right side you'll have to disconnect when you get it partially out. That hose may be catching on something. The key is bringing the right side out first.

by right side yuo mean passenger side? this is really annoying..
|
Yes, the side toward the passenger side. Tilt the front of it it up and out then bring out the left (driver) side. You need to have the left side back in first.

Once you get it off, go to AutoZone and replace it with this chrome air filter setup for $20 and NEVER deal with that pain of removing the intercooler and banging stuff back an forth. JMHO

Oh...well at least the story has a happy ending ;) |
Does that air cleaner flow enough to not restrict the motor?

Not really scientific, but several Pelicanites run cars with big HP numbers with similar setups...so I would say so. I know the stock airfilter was pretty big, but that little hole in the housing that allowed the air in wasn't, and it also seemed to narrow pretty bad at the other end as well?? I do plan on going to a little taller filter element to maximize the current setup. I believe the K&N 3720?? is taller and will fit my lid. |
I always wondered why Porsche made the stock unit so big. Is there some physics behind it that we are unaware of? I can't imagine they would spend extra money on all that metal if they didn't have a good reason. Not knocking other setups, just wondering. Maybe it's so the intake air would be cooler since it draws closer to the AC condenser where air flow is greater???
