ring experience - planning
my good friend (dom) and I are in Amsterdam right now, and Berlin tomorrow, after 3-4 days in Berlin we will be making our way to cologne and from their spend a day at the track (something like 60km away?)...likely try the ring on the 13th or 14th.
it sounds like if i would like to drive myself I'd now have to rent a dedicated track toy? anyone know of any other options? rental car companies not a fan of their cars going on the ring? once again would love a passenger seat experience to start the day off? maybe a few different seats? cheers N

Facey,
I'd love to get you to bring me back a couple of those cool "ring" decals! You know, the one that's a line drawing of the circuit. Does anyone here have those or know where to get? Paul

Watch a video a million times, get rides, then try it slowly. Nasty place.
Decals on EBay -

Where to get? Der Nordscheliefe. 8-) There used to be a way to buy them off their site http://20832.com/?lang=eng, but a quick look and I don't see now. Maybe email them? Or like Craig said - fleabay. Tho... ...shouldn't you run it to wear it? 8-)!!! Still haven't decided on a kosher place to put it on der 930. I've got one medium red one left. If I find I've an extra I'll let you know and send it to you. |

I did one lap in a 335i coupe last year. It was the most enjoyable drive I've ever had, hands down. It was much more terrifying for the passenger (my dad). Honestly though, I never felt like I was in danger, and I got passed by several cars (mostly Porsches). From my limited experience, it seems that the drivers in that area are much more considerate of others than the typical American driver.

I'll try and grab a few extra badges to pass around depending on the price etc.. cheers N

Take a helmet and get rides with guys... it's the best and CHEAPEST way to get to see it before you jump into it... It's a BLAST! and remeber watch the rear.. There are SOME VERY FAST ! guys and gals out there and they WILL make a pass on you. it's not like the US of A.. and remember if you crash you will be paying for the track and Armco repair as well as a heavy euro tab to have the car towed off.. so be smart.. and work into it. and you'll find that sometimes there is oil on the track and you'll NOT know about it.. it's simply a MECCA for car guys.. I'd live and die there if I could! It makes the US tracks seem like Pre school!
Some say Mid Ohio is a technical track.. No it's not.. not even close. The RING is the ****! and it's full of first time track drivers aswell as pros.. so it's never dull. Good luck and have FUN!!!!!!!!!!! |
