Color Code for Zinc Metallic
I am getting some minor painting done on my 930 and have some codes on a sticker attached to the engine bay edge. It says "Z8 - Zinmetallic - 95693" but my body shop says it needs a color code for a proper match and that they are looking for a 4 digit code that may start with a letter "L". Does anyone have the same color and would you know what I should tell my shop ?
Thanks |
The Red Book says the code's 956 as does the small can of paint that I bought from my local painter's supply 5 years ago.

So I went ahead and had this local body shop paint my valence. I gave him my paint code (956) and also my "old" valence. The new piece came out looking dramatically darker and "richer". It does not match worth a ****. Now he is telling me that this is the best he could do. He said that he makes the code blend and can only tint it so far to match my "faded or altered" paint job. My thougth is whether or not my car has been repainted or is very faded, should he not have matched it to the "old part" that I left with him or am I f____ed ? Very cheesed and not sure if I have any recourse since wife payed for it and both parts are at home.

Post a few pics - I have the identical color car.

I had the opposite problem. My old SC had been repainted a darker shade of silver than the can of zinc metallic that the local painter's supply mixed for me.
I think in general silver is hard to match. |
Here are the car and the new valence...

Uh, that valence is WAY off. I would not accept it or decline the CC charge -

Extremely dissappointing to say the least

Craig,
Which color is closer to your paint ? Assuming yours is also 956 (zinc metallic) |
