930 Floating rotors
Hi
I have a 78 930 with floating rotors. Can I convert to normal non floating rotors, and still use the calipers and wheel setup? |
I think you have to use the later hubs to use non floating rotor/hats. I think it's 1980 and up.
|
Just curious, Why to change the floating rotors? Those are more than proven with the 917... where braking was of the essence.
|
Yes,
You can change, but not sure why. It would require a new rotor and a custom hat. Or like others have said, a factory later rotor and a later hub. Cheers |
Floaters COST an arm & a leg.. to replace.
|
I have 2-piece fronts on my 87, just replaced the rotors at $395 per corner!
In addition to the cost, they are hell to find a source, PP has them as NLA. |

Well, what about a after market rotor.
http://www.vehiclecraft.com/Brakes/vciweb4.htm Scroll down to the VCI 2000 floating. This might be where I go when I replace my rotors at the end of this season. Anybody have experience with these rotors? |
Thanks for the input.
I will keep my floating roters. |
Good decision!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Where does one find the 2pc rotors for an 86-89 930? I'm about due!
What are the front and rear diameters? |
