930 Muffler Type

Hello just looking for some advice.
I have a stock 3.3 Turbo that I have just purchased some schnell headers for.
The existing muffler I can not reognise and the welding on the outlets looks like a dog's breakfast, could be home made.
What do you guys recommend for my car in the way of mufflers and where do you buy them.
Regards
Alec (In Australia)

Monty, hands down. They are made in Australia and are the best sounding 930 mufflers out there. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z1hrmwoEZVo

You have obviously not heard one of mine, ha!
Check out my website listed in the signature line. Lots of configurations to choose from. I've sold a few down under, shipping is not a problem.

I've had a Monty and now have a Rarelyl8, both are excellent units. I love the simplicity of the rarelyL8 right hand exit I now have and it weighs a fraction of what the monty did. I don't see the point in the exhaust bending back around to exit out the left. I showed some people it before it was mounted and most couldn't believe how light it was and followed with "that thing is gonna be f$%king loud". I asked for additional deadening and it's no louder than the monty idling and crusing but when I kick it in the guts all hell breaks loose, I love it. I also bought zork but haven't tried it out yet.

What I like most about the RarelyL8 systems is you can have them configured how ever you want, left hand, right hand, centre exit, 4 bolt, vband, sound deadened, loud as hell what ever you want.

Brians service was A1 and like he saids, shipping to Australia was no big deal.

Here's a pic you can also see the rarelyL8 wastegate dump.

How much do the tubes stick out/down below the engine case - like looking at the car from behind? It looks pretty low on the picture. Any clearance concerns?

RarlyL8's products are top-notch in quality, his prices are more-than-fair, and his service is unapproachable. (I AM a very satisfied customer of his!)

I've had the the stock CAT with stock muffler. Too quiet. I then had the stock headers and turbo with a GHL. Sounded really nice. Now I have GHL headers with a K27 and a home made straight pipe. That sounds REALLY good IMO.

My only complaint about the GHL muffler and this IS why it isn't on my car right now is because the dual outlet tips weren't even. Call me anal but because of this I may NEVER buy another GHL muffler again. Don't get me wrong, I've been very happy with their headers and CAT bypass pipes (on my Carrera) but I didn't like they way their muffler tips looked as a finished product because they were uneven.

Here's my finished product. I made the straight pipe and had a friend powder coat it black. It turned out pretty nice IMO.

I have a new valance that blocks the DS opening from RarlyL8 that I have to install yet. Should be pretty nice when I'm done.

Thanks for the kind words guys! I do enjoy this hobby gone wild.
I love the look of the no-tail widebody/turbo. Do you have a link to more pictures?

To directly answer your question, I think the popular 930 mufflers are B&B, Fabspeed, GHL, Borla and a few build-your-own systems like MagnaFlow.

The best muffler depends on your application. If cost is the #1 factor you may consider a do-it-yourself using a MagnaFlow for about $300 installed at your local pipe bender. If you like bling and noise then B&B or Fabspeed might do. If you need ultimate light weight and configuration options I can work with you. The passenger's side exit muffler that Spence has weighs less than 7 pounds, the dual outlet version weighs less than 12 pounds. All 321.

"Stimulus check"... here we come heh heh.

Brian, I'm going to PM you or email you via your site if there's a way. I'd surfed it awhile back and recall being confuzed (easy) with determining how $ what I 'wanted' was going to be - I'm thick remember.

It's killing me having a gut'd cat OE system on there just killing me. I'll have to see if I can schwing one of yers or not 8-).

Cool, and, agreed - that looks totally badass sans the wing. Which I figured was an odd move for intercooling, but then you post your vid... pardon me ignoramus but... where's yer I/C Houdini??? 8-)

Does the wing add necessary downforce on the rear (I thought?) or just channel air to the I/C? Again deferring to me ignoramus...

Regardless, neat set up - I'm a big fan of that grey.

Thanks a lot!!

Yep the rear wing does both downforce and houses the intercooler.

I’m sure the car would handle much better with it, my car was ordered from the factory without the wing mounted, it was delivered in a large cardboard box and I have it under my bed, brand new never mounted. I love the look without it, I do like them with but it’s a bit more special to me without, some like it some think it looks wrong. I’m planning to ditch the AFM in place of MAP and get custom fabricated intercooler under the lid, or mount the wing and get a huge off the shelf intercooler. Right now the car only runs .5bar so it doesn’t need intercooling, I can’t up the boost without one though. It makes an estimated (protomotive) 360hp crank running only .5bar which I’m happy with for the time being, it’s pretty quick.

You can hear how deep the note is here, you can feel it in the ground 10 meters away!

This road has a limit of 40kmph (24mph) so couldn't really boost it.

No question his stuff is really nice. I am replacing a 80s kremer built system that come with the car when new with his and once I got it I decided to order another for a out of date B&B 4 pipe muffler system. Talk of getting rid of unsprung weight at the wheels how about getting rid of the weight that contributes to the tail happy attutude the 930 is (in) famous for and a better flowing exhaust system.
