What do you mean? Are you talking about the heater boxes?

Those are the "heat exchangers" . . . air passes throught them, is warmed by the headers, and is sent into the cabin (if the flappers are open) . . .

oh ok, that's exactly what i needed to know. started a turbo build with my dad on his 85 911 targa and was just wondering what those were.

85 targa= 3.2 fuel injected to be converted to turbo, keep us posted- sounds interesting.
