type 930/64
Hi can anyone tell me what a type 930/64 means? It is stamped above the oil pressure sender.
I did a search and 930/64 nor the technical articles come up with anything. Thanks -Adam |

I don't think there were any USA spec cars made during that period until 1986. Where did you get that info???

The factory workshop manual lists 930/64 as 3.3 motor for USA from 79my onwards.
Odd since the cars stopped coming here in 79 but that's what the book says. After the turbo was reintroduced in the US it was type 930/66, so it is a bit of a mystery. |

Short block-wise, not a lot of differences, except maybe camshaft/sprocket mounting hardware and maybe the earlier style oil fed chain tensioners. Same piston/cylinders, camshafts, crank, etc.
Long block wise, maybe different fuel distributor and WUR combo.

WOW, Thanks for the help guys!
The engine is definitely from 79 as for the fuel head, I found a receipt in the car for the exchange of a euro head to an American one. Wonder why? Also my WUR seems to be from a Mercedes as the part number is 0 438 140 015. It does however have a boost enrichment port. Do you guys think I could make this one adjustable and still use it in the mean time while I make up my mind on the new digital one? Anyone have a chart for the control pressures for this engine? Or perhaps the timing specs? Currently, I've been hunting down air leaks and ironing out someone else's hack work. It seems like every time I turn around I am fixing something else that was "fixed" before. I've got a bunch of goodies on order from our host and will be getting an LM-1 or LM-2 really soon. Thanks for the help everyone! -Adam |

A stock euro fuel head will flow more than a stock USA head, that's probably why it was fitted. With a stock USA head you can run out of fuel on a modified engine.

Nathan,
Any idea how much more fuel a euro head will flow over a US one? Also, are there any other differences between a euro and a US motor? Injector sizes, injector fuel line sizes, ect? Also, any idea on weight differences between the 2 models? Thanks, Craig |

I think the fuel is only something like 12%. Hopefully someone that knows will comment for you.
As for the rest hope they can comment on that too...

All 930's in 1978 and 1979 had the same fuel head - the Euro. The US spec fuel head did not appear until 1986.

So here is an update on my 930/64 type engine.
While hunting down some air leaks I found that all 6 of my injector blocks were cracked. I ordered a new set from our host and decided to minor refurbish of the cis system and bov assembly. ![]() After getting the new injector blocks I found that there were extremly smaller than the ones that I removed from the car. It appeared the old ones were bored out to just over 36mm. Measuring the intake revealed the same dimension. ![]() ![]() ![]() The ports on my cylinder heads measured to 37mm!! ![]()

It looks like I may have to bore my new injector blocks to fit my modified intake and cylinder heads.
I really think they cracked because of the fact that they were bored in the first place! I just cant imagine using them the way they are. Any suggestions? |

I did a search on those however, it seems like no one is making them right now.
Any ideas on a good source for these? |

Blown engines are inherently forgiving when it comes to flow restriction. I'd check with a reputable 930 engine builder/expert, ask if bigger is better or not for these engines, yours particularly if highly modified. |
