4th gear stutter question
My car has developed an intermittent stutter when I'm just lugging along in 4th gear on the highway. Drop 3rd and it's as if nothing happened. Hit 4th again, stutter.
I suspect a possible boost or vacuum leak maybe? I've not yet peeked around, starting first with your brains 8-). Either that or it feels like it's getting too much fuel at that rpm / gear maybe? I'm no rocket scientist tho... No smoke or other symptoms. Runs 100% awesome the rest of the time. Started doing it out of nowhere - actually - after sitting 2wks while I was beaching it. But I've run new a new tank of fuel thru it since. Only happens once in awhile. Any insight appreciated, thanks! |
Is your o2 sensor plugged in? You could try disconnecting it.

It is, and, I'll give that a try thanks.

So sweat, I hope that's it. They can cause a slight surge or stutter at light load if they take a dump.
Otherwise you may need to look into checking plug connector resistance, spark plugs, etc. It "could" be injector related but I would think you had other symptoms, such as one cylinder being flooded when cranked sometimes, rough idle, etc. What else guys?? geez you guys most be actually working... |
Could be the fuel pump failing. Check/change the relays for fuel pumps in the engine panel first and then start trying to see if the pumps are making noise.
