SCREEN NAMES - argh!
Public Service Request:
ALRIGHTY! I've had it! Icing / cake was replying to a post recently and having to refer to someone as Cowtown! AFM744 wasn't much better. Argh! Can't take it no more soooooo... Gentz... we all know and agree that our little forum section here is comprised of some high quality high caliber doods, and we have established / are establishing some great and strong 'friendships' here. To me, it's disconcertingly impersonal to refer to someone in a thread by their screen name. Personally (IMHO!) I cannot stand them - me name's me name - but to each their own. BUT Howabout we all read this thread, click on "User CP" in the toolbar above, and merely / simply ADD YOUR NAME TO YOUR SIGNATURE??? THEN we can all hold hands in a circle, sing Kumbaya, and relish in harmonious joy or like something and stuff or things - I think. OK - srsly - give it some thought? I've made some of the greatest friendships on a couple of autogeek forums over the years - so much so that I don't much talk to my 'real' friends comparatively... or care to. Seems only fitting to be able to call youses by name. Hi, my name's Paul. See, it's easy. Dunno why anyone would want anonymity - I stand behind anything I say, and my name's with it. Sorry, end Kacinzski Rant (promises Manifesto isn't forthcoming). And to Cowtown's defense, I *do* believe he subsequently did edit HIS sig 8-). Dare ya?

Hello Paul,
I hear what your saying and agree with adding your name to your signature. Some handles are pretty wild and its hard to say "Hi, #%* " when responding back without their real name. Personally I think it's respectful to address someone by by their name. I'll pass on holding hands in a circle though! lol Paul

You have no idea how embarrassing it is having to go through life with a name like Long Duck Dong. So can you guys just call me Jeff?

and SEE! I'll be goshdarn'd... I'm not alone. Exactly Paul, I find it disrepectful to reply to someone and not use their name. Awesome guys - great start - kudos (Kumbaya ready in the que...)! ps. Jeff, I really gravitated to Pelican v. RL as... there's no Bender on RL see... 8-) |

Great to 'meet' you Jon! Sorry I used you as an example, but it was just weird commenting on your Vans in that other thread but having to call you AFM744! 8-)
Wickedcool biker shotz - tx for sharing. Your former 930... one of my all time fave colors for some reason. Just awesome. Keep up the good work here lads - seems I'm on to something. Brings a Gentleman's approach to our otherwise fine / esteemed group here... |

Hey Paul I wasn't reacting negatively to your Vans comment either.
The above car, my previous Porsche was an '89 Carrera 3.2 with OEM front and rear spoilers, 6/8 Fuchs, G50, 145k and cherry. GREAT car. Now I gotta dig up the pics from my mint '71 911T 2.2 (Zeniths, 901 5sp, deep-6s), back when I bought and sold it for $7k...

Jon (SO beats AFM744 heh heh)!-
D'oh - I was so caught up in the blueness I didn't even note it was a Carrera. Dumbarse I am. Threadjackin mesself here: Heh, Audi guy... guilty, my 'other life'. Awesome Stg. 3 - such buildable cars, and like you said total sleepers. Heck my Alumibiatch stomps most things on the open road. I too run BBS's, RXII's - gratuitious picwhore opp: ![]() Torsen FTMFW! Quattro: "I hope that I will soon forget the Audi Quattro. Until I do, I shall continue to worship that biatch goddess Success at the expense of friends, family, honesty and decency - anything to be in a position to have one. The Quattro is evil, an insidious witch in the guise of state-of-the-art engineering, a circe who commands your obedience every waking moment and a succubus who haunts every dream. She's the seductress who recreates That First Time all over again, who snips all your tethers to innocence and changes your life forever." now Keep the sig names rollin in gents! |

I've always thought it was interesting seeing the variety of screen names on here...but I agree if you are asking someone something or replying...having the actual name just seems right.
Jon (AMF744) - Great racing pictures. Did you ever race in MN at BIR (Brainerd)? We have enjoyed watching that. They get a big crowd and there are several great turns to watch from. It's cool when a few of the guys pop the front wheel b/f they head under the bridge.

I dunno, sometimes it is better to remain hidden. I wasn't so thrilled when I found out my pen pal from Morocco, Sofonda Peters, was actually an overwieght hairy guy from Tennessee named Fred ...
