What do you get when...
you take this 304 stainless straight pipe exhaust bought on Ebay for $25
http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1223755934.jpg then weld in this auger insert bought from Jeg's for $15? http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1223755971.jpg You get this awesome sound at about 10lbs: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H9QBwpjrvSw |
That sound for 40$ !?!?!? I'll take it any day...........
|
I just took it for a drive with the wifey. It sounds so sick. Not loud like a race car but a very nice rumble. Even the wifey said it sounds good. I did some slow runs and an interstate run and I can't believe how little drone there is, virtually non-existent.

Grey Marine in a 1947 Chris Craft.

if the wife likes it, you've got it made!!
|
$25? Are you kidding me? Wow what a deal! I pay that much for the FLANGE!
By the way, that looks just like the stock-exit-zork I made custom for a guy. Right down to the O2 bung. His was 321 stainless though. Cost was around $500. |
It does look very familiar.

Convergant evolution. The one I made was less than a year ago.
It doesn't take too much to remove the edge off the noise but, as you know, you've got to watch disrupting the flow or it'll cost you power. I've sold a few "track" systems that were placed on street cars and then quickly pulled back off due to the noise level. It's fun and a novalty at first but living with the dB level long term can be a challenge. No more than you have in that setup it can be pulled off and on at will, great find! |

Wasn't this one? To bad transportation company didn't pay attention to detail and bend it ...... http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1223837149.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1223837263.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1223837319.jpg |
Holy crap! What happened? Looks like they got your turbo sump as well.
I hate to ask if they were properly insured and did right by you. Yes, that was actually the first 934 wastegate pipe I sold. The second generation version is modular and has the tailpipe as a separate piece. You can cut the pipe you have and replace the tailpipe section if you wish. The zork looks like toast. Shoot me an e-mail and I will work something out with you on the replacement parts. |
Holy Jeezus! I drove it today and revved it up in the garage at work!!! It sounded like a friggin race car in there. One of my colleagues (owns an e46 M3) was laughing like a little kid. Then I left the garage and it was perfect again. I just went for a drive again a few minutes ago because I just wanted to hear it again.

Sounds great Mark!
But where is the LOUD popping and the flames man? IDGAF27, I shudder did you knot their head  |
Mark , I know it's stupid question, but.........might you consider selling it? I have some change to spare...............:D

I just finished putting my stock exhaust back on for CA smog testing :(
Started it up and the dam thing sounds like a 1600cc VW! Going from a Zork to stock is a real shocker. |
Are you not wanting to replace the system currently damaged?
Ben, I made up one of those driver's side exit zorks about a year ago using all our components minus the muffler. We talked about it if you recall. You sent me a length of pipe that I used to replace the muffler. Problem was cost. The replacement of the muffler with a length of pipe only reduced the cost by about $150 so when the smoke cleared I had to get $500 for it. I had doubts that we could sell very many at that price. We can make one for you no problem. My "hooligan" exhaust is very similar but uses an expansion chamber in place of the muffler. Basically no sound deadening material. It is wicked sounding but not deafening like a zork. LOTS of options and configurations. |
Brian, don't get me wrong. I love setup you made for Kevin from Ojai, CA( that is his car in my possession) in Sept. 2007 and I am working on it to fix . It isn't that bad as it looks.
Based on your WG pipe ,I am trying to make one piece pipe(no welds). Sorry for my lack of knowledge, but I assume, Zork is the center pipes name ( one that goes out of turbo) ? If it is so, I am fixing it too. Some one pointed ebay listing for an air injection lines- I ordered those. Basically all will be good. But, as much as I love current noise ( cannot call it sound) and spitting fire out of Zork (?) on daily basis it is too much. Even though I am not using as DD. Cops in town knows I am comming, as soon as I roll out of the garage . and town is three miles away :) |

yeah I remember and that sounds about right |

Brian, is it good to have the O2 bung that close to the turbo outlet?
|
Quote:
Love it:D ...........and need a tissue http://forums.pelicanparts.com/support/smileys/wat3.gif Do I have enough change to spare? |
Quote:
Surely this would avoid heat-related problems and as long as it is far enough from the outlet, dilution from outside air shouldn't be a problem? |
The O2 bung position is a compromise. For tuning purposes it is fine; leaving the sensor near the turbo permanently will likely shorten the sensor's life.
The 180 pipe is adjustable and used for many different tailpipe configurations. The O2 sensor angle can end up in a spot that is hard to access or less than 180*/level. |

Are you selling it ? |

Yes, the version shown is center outlet muffler with a 934 style waste gate dump pipe. (The picture only shows the tailpipe portion of the 934 W/G dump).
You can see that muffler and other versions on my website listed below in my signature line. Look under "new items". I'm putting together a few right now, shoot me an e-mail or phone call and we'll work it out. |

Thanks, Jeff |
Yes, all parts are modular which allows you to mix-and-match for a different look without buying a completely new system.
I'll e-mail you pricing. |
