Is Kokeln still in business?
Hello,
I bought a nice Kokeln IC on ebay a few weeks ago for my 930. The part seems in good condition but was sold without the installation kit which I am trying to get from Kokeln. I live in Europe so I went on Kokeln website to get their contact details. I called the number a dozen times - it always lead me to the answering machine on which I left a message asking them to return my call or to send me an e-mail or a fax. I also sent Kokeln a telecopy explaining my request 3 weeks ago but never got an answer. Is Kokeln still in business? If not, anyone knows how I can get/re create the parts needed and how I mount the Kokeln IC on my 930? Thank you very much. Mathieu Last edited by 1100sport; 01-17-2009 at 03:21 PM.. |

I hope not. I'm thinking about buying one of their I/C's. I'm going to give them a call next week.

I called Kokeln Friday to inquire about pricing...left a message. I'll report back to the board if they return the call.
I'll be watching to see if Ben builds something as well.

If you can't get through to Kolkeln, most of the parts are easily bought or fabbed. The 90* elbow is a factory part, as is the BOV (?) that fits on it. Threaded rod and tubing for spacers to mount it can be had from various suppliers. The stock turbo to IC pipe can be used if you use the billet spacer that sits on the turbo. Otherwise maybe a C2T hose fits. The only part that might need to be fabbed is the cast alumin reducer off the 90* elbow. Slow&rusty made his from sheet metal or aluminum IIRC.

Why is that? Not enough demand? They had a good product for many years.

I know the owner well, he always makes time if I stop by the shop, but he is really bad at returning calls or emails... makes me wonder how he stays so busy, I know he's good at what he does though. If you really need something Kokeln pm me, I have no affiliation except that he does the work on my car and has always been good and honest, he also builds a mean track car... unfortunately I can't afford him to do that for me yet... His shop is by my house so it's not a big deal for me to pick stuff up.

Infraredcalvin - really appreciate the offer - goes to show you why this is the best board on the web. But, I miked the ring and bought a replacement off the web and all is fine now. Glad to hear they are still around - they make real quality stuff.

If Kokeln is no longer producing I/C's then what are the top alternatives that are still available? It seems Kokeln was far better then most other after market I/C's?

I am happy with my B&B intercooler. Still have a/c with it.
The only disappointment was machining the threaded hole on the intercooler mounting boss off center for the bracket that attached to the fan shround. They were off center about 1/4" and almost blew thru the outer wall of the boss with the threads. Seems to be holding up after 2 years though. Had to custom trim the aluminum shrouding plate to fit as well....but this is probably a good thing since it is tight now....no air leaks around the cooler. It performs pretty well, though I have no data on pressure drops or temperature drops across the cooler. Would love that data of anyone posts it. Good luck.

Kokeln is still in business, and yes they are still producing parts for the 930. Now trying to get ahold of them is another story. They are good guys, but they are terrible at returning calls - i have no idea why. But if you need something I will be happy to help communicate with them - they are close to my house.
