What are 993TT OEM heat exchangers made of?
Anyone know that the OEM 993TT heat exchangers are made of? Cast mild steel?
I have a set lying around and I want to get the triangular K16 collector flanges cut off and have T25 flanges welded on.

I take it I'd need mild steel flanges?

James- I dont know that it is mild steel, I think it is some form of stainless as I never see them rust. Maybe Ben could help us out on this one.
I want to to hear about you cutting the flanges off and sticking t-3 flanges on there for a set of Gt-30Rs with .68 hot housings... Let her breath! At least a set of Gt-28RS's

I want it to be responsive and flow well up top. It's a street car. GT30R's on a 3.3L might be a bit too big. They'd be REALLY nice on a TT 3.6L - 3.8L though ![]() I know the 993TT heater boxes are stainless, but the headers themselves ???

Ok ok ok- at least a set of big GT-28RS's- Then it would spool real quick and keep going up top. Keeping the heat out of the cylinders on our cars is important and thats why I say go a little bigger. Twin GT-28RS's would be baller though.

GT28RS's flow around 35lb/min. A pair would flow up around 700HP
On an air cooled 911, maybe around 600HP?

I knew the answer to that question a year or so ago. Can't remember for sure now. I think it was 400 series stainless.
