DIY alignment
I installed a bump steer kit since the car is low and I was getting bump steer.
I also raised the rear about 1/2". I raised the left front corner 1/2" since that side was lower. The car is less stable now of course. The car pulls to the right now when driving and not braking. The toe was out/positive quite a bit so I adjusted it in negative. The manual says to adjust the front toe to +15' which is strange since I thought you needed negative toe. Am I reading it wrong? Also is there a good way to check this instead of a measuring tape? It is hard to get a good reading since you can only reach the lower part of the tires. Could I have messed up the rear toe when raising the rear. I loosened the two large bolts in the middle of the swing arm to make the adjustment. |
I know it can be done DIY but from what I have read it is a monumental pain in the azz. My reply is useless to you since you have already started the work, but you might consider hedging your loss here, and get your car over to a pro with a rack and get it corner balanced while your at it. Life is too short and these cars handle too good to settle for anything short of a proper alignment. I know there are a bunch of guys on here that do it themselves, but it is real time consuming and a lot of trial and error. Just my .02.

Do it (or screw it up) yourself
A person by the name of Ray Scruggs apparently sold a short book on the subject some years ago, and I believe our gracious host carried it for awhile. Here's a place to get a pdf copy I found somewhere. Have not tried it myself......yet.

I agree and I will do that soon. I just wanted to get it close before hand. |

I have been doing this for years but never documented it. Basically using the Smart Racing strings method without buying all that expensive equipment. |
Seen at the Long Beach ALMS Sportscar Race about 3 hours before the rollout onto the track:
