wheel spacers

Though I'd like to say that every dollar I put into this car goes toward quality performance, it just simply ain't so.

Is it ok to use a half inch wheel spacer in the rear without adding length to the lug bolts?

my thought

Doug,

I would say that would be 1/2 inch less of threads that you are supporting your wheels on. I would say get longer studs if you add the spacers.

We will see what others say but that's my vote. Best of luck,
Bryan

Thanks Bryan.

Anyone else?

I'd like to leave the studs as they are. If so, what depth spacer can I use without harming the car?

Actually, I'd like to know what problems might develop if I use too big a spacer for the stud? Anyone?

Are you talking about adding an additional half inch to the spacer that is already there? If so, you are going to run out of stud very fast or have a few threads engaged at a minimum. If you are talking about a half inch spacer all together, then you are fine. You'll might need open lug nuts so you don't bottom out the stock ones.

At a minimum, you want the stud flush with the outside of the lug nut.

Rocket,
Are you calling the 2" deep disk that the studs are attached to, a spacer?

Seems like there is plenty of stud and lug nut to host an additional half inch, but I don't know how to gauge.

I'm guessing that I need 1/2 - 3/4 inch of thread for the lug to secure against the wheels. Just a guess. I'm not near the car right now, so I don't know exactly how much stud extrudes beyond the wheel for the lug. Will measure Monday.

There's a removable spacer on the rear that is about 1'' thick. You may need to tap it with a hammer to loosen it, but it will come off.

If you have a steel lug nut and the stud is flush with the outside with the wheel installed, you are good to go.
