964 ????

I bought what I thought was a 964 Carerra 2 Cabriolet in 2005. In 2008 I some rock damage from a gravel truck tear up my front bumper and hood. My insurance company paid to have it fixed and painted but after the claims adjuster inspected my car my insurance went up drastically. I asked why would this happen if the accident wasn't my fault and he said it has nothing to do with the accident. He said that after careful inspection I labeled my car wrong it was actually a 964 Road America Porsche. He said that the VIN number corresponds to a car that is a specialty car only 250 made. Besides the VIN number what can I do to check if my 964 is really a Road America and not just a Carerra 2. Thanks.

Road America? Maybe it's a RS America...

Try the 964 board: http://forums.pelicanparts.com/forumdisplay.php?forumid=32

I didn't think any of the RSA's were convertibles. If you PM me your VIN, I'll look it up in the Red Book and let you know what it says.

Sounds more like it is the factory widebody America Roadster. It is pretty much the same as the 911 turbo looks, but in the 964 body. Depending on mileage, the car is probably worth in the mid to high $20s, maybe low $30s.

964 C2 Cab is not a widebody. One picture of your car would clear up any speculation.
Sounds to me like you have what you thought you have and the insurance company has either made a mistake or is trying to rip you off.

From the link above ( http://www.performance2and4.co.uk/96...ution_2a_n.htm ) ....

Porsche 911 964 American Roadster.
In 1992 Porsche offered the North American market a limited edition Cabriolet, the American Roadster.

The 'Turbo-Bodied' Roadster had the electric spoiler of the standard Carrera 2 & 4, a power hood and additional extras. However at $15.000 more then the standard Cabriolet only a 250 were made. I have not seen one but I believe it would be almost the same as the 'European Turbo Look'

As far as I know all of the American Roadsters were wide body cars. I looked closely at one on the showroom floor when new.

Sounds like you may have a really neat car.

Here is a link with more info.
