Out of the blue-fast idle 1500rpm
Hello all,
Had a weird thing happen this morning on my commute. Car fired up cold great, warmed up great, drove great through many stop lights etc. Then came off the freeway off ramp to a stop & idle was @ 1500rpm(usually @ 900rpm) Car has new Brian Leask WUR(properly adjusted), CO set, tune up, new CDI box, blah, blah blah.. all 6 months ago & has been running top notch ever since...until this morning. If I push down on the air flap plunger on the fuel head while the car is idling @1500rpm, nothing..no rpm change at all. Soooo....I'm thinking air leak/false air somewhere. Checked all the obvious vacuum lines & "O" ring seals that I could while in my office parking lot, got nothing! Checked that my throttle linkage was not binding, nothing! Intake manifold bolts all tight, no exhaust leaks, no whistles, no hisses, no mis-fires, no stumbling. So Ideas?? Mark |

Aux. air regulator (sometimes called the AAV)? Try pinching the hose shut to see if the idle drops. You're most likely correct in looking for an intake air leak.
